Attic Cover Condensation
If stale air is what condensation thrives on then we need to make sure the opposite is happening in our attic environment.
Attic cover condensation. You can either form this into each bay between the joists or cover the attic floor flat. A moist attic means moist insulation and moist insulation is less effective. Your attic has vents for a reason. If they are located in your attic be sure the area is properly insulated and any cracks or holes are sealed.
Traces where water has trickled down the walls. Simply staple a 6ml polyethylene material to your ceiling joists. Increased ventilation alone will increase the exfiltration of air lowering the temperature of the attic. Water found in these places is commonly caused by condensation in the attic.
There are plenty of things you can do to minimize attic condensation from occurring. Sometimes attic condensation is the result of an attic being improperly ventilated. In order to boost air flow one can install an attic fan. If ducts are located in a crawlspace underneath your house cover the soil to reduce moisture.
Good insulation is a must because it minimizes the amount of warm air entering the attic to begin with. Make sure they are properly insulated. Fixing this issue can be less costly than replacing a roof but it should be addressed as soon as possible. This is especially important in your attic bypasses areas connecting to your home like heating ducts kitchen exhaust fans lighting fixtures bathroom vents etc.
Noticeable musky damp odor. Get the air moving. Otherwise moisture will build up and you can face possible mold problems in your attic. Finding water damage on the wall or ceiling is worrying for any homeowner.
This air flow can cut down on condensation. Signs of condensation in the attic may include the following. Moisture forming on the glass window panes or other flat surfaces. The enemy of water condensation is air movement.
The most common cause for this is inadequate ventilation in your attic. If there is inadequate ventilation in your attic then contract your local roofing contractor for information on adding roof vents. Most people assume this is caused by a leaking roof but that might not be the source. Adding a few vents to the floor of the attic that extend to the ceiling of the story below the attic can help to promote air flow within the attic.
Also because airflow is not uniform significant condensation may still occur. Keep ducts spaced apart so air can flow between them. Sagging ridgeline drooping ceilings water leaks on interior walls and ceilings jammed doors cracked interior walls near the center of your home creaking sounds.
