Attach Copper Foil To Plastic Sheeting
Gently scuff sand the back of the copper veneer with 80 or 120 grit sandpaper.
Attach copper foil to plastic sheeting. Cut the copper sheet to size with scissors or tin snips so that it is the size of the mdf sheet plus another 3 inches on all sides. Lay the batten over the centre of the cork sheet. Apply the adhesive to the porous substrate with a glue roller. Anaerobic adhesives cure in the presence of metal and absence of oxygen.
You will learn how to patina copper and use copper mesh for added depth and texture. Lay the 1 4 inch dowels on the surface. Copper is one of the most reactive metals so the anaerobic adhesive will set up and cure much more. Allow the assembly to dry for at least 12 hours.
Adhesives are preferred over soldering as they do not heat damage the copper. Add bling to the inside of the flower with rhinestone embellishments or friendly plastic cabachons instructions. Apply the contact cement to the mdf and to the copper sheeting and wait 2 minutes. Tighten each g clamp snugly.
Place the copper sheet on the dowels. Lay a sheet of 1 8 thick cork on top of the plastic sheeting. Copper and its alloys are readily bonded with a variety of adhesive types. Attach a g clamp around the top of the batten and bottom of the wood every 8 inches.
